Last night, Niño Gordo welcomed Zitz Sum for its Cooking with Friends series, blending both culinary identities into a special à la carte experience. It was my first time bringing my little foodie along for a mommy and me dinner.
We sat at the bar in front of the open kitchen, where the experience felt even more alive, watching each dish come together, face-to-face with the chefs Ghian Polke (Niño Gordo) and Pablo Zitxmann, Zitz Sum’s Chef & Owner.
From the delicate Hokkaido scallops to the indulgent Udon Carbonara from Zitz Sum, and the Fish of the Day from Niño Gordo, every bite felt thoughtful and full of flavor.
My daughter enjoyed their signature mocktail, “Lola Menta,” while I had a house-recommended Sake. It was one of those nights you wish could linger a little longer.
Warm, vibrant, and delicious from start to finish.

The kind of stir that tells you the cocktail will be perfect
Something exciting is happening at Niño Gordo this spring. 🔥🥡🥟
The Wynwood hotspot known for its bold blend of Argentine fire and Asian technique is rolling out a series of experiences that go beyond dinner.
First, a two-part chef collaboration with Zitz Sum. On March 22, Chef Germán Sitz joins Zitz Sum for a one-night-only 9-course tasting menu as part of their cult-favorite Friends con Benefits dinner series.
Then on April 15, Zitz Sum pops up at Niño Gordo for Cooking with Friends, bringing both kitchens together for a special à la carte collaboration.
And starting March 11, the restaurant is also launching Mahjong Nights in partnership with Mahj + Miami — a social game night pairing mahjong, cocktails, and bites from the Niño Gordo menu.
“First, believe in yourself.”
During our conversation with Nancy Duarte, Maestra Ronera of Santa Teresa 1796, she shared a message for the next generation of women entering the spirits industry.
Her advice is simple, yet powerful:
Trust in your abilities. Prepare yourself. Study. Practice. And keep moving forward.
Women are shaping the future of rum, distillation, and spirits leadership—and voices like Nancy’s remind us that confidence is often the first step.
From the distillery to the bar, to the lab and beyond — the industry is evolving.
And women are part of that evolution. ✨

In this industry, women don’t just serve… they build.
They build brands. They build teams. They build community.
For years, they’ve had to prove themselves twice as much — and still, here they are. Leading.
Today we’re not just celebrating a day, we’re celebrating a journey.
From 2oz Magazine, we raise a glass to the women who elevate this industry every single day.
Cheers. ✨
