The acclaimed chef, author, and eight-time James Beard Award winner joins Lee Schrager at The Hub Miami for an intimate evening of culinary storytelling and a cookbook-inspired dinner.
On October 22, acclaimed chef Marcus Samuelsson will bring his culinary vision to Miami for an exclusive edition of Chef’s Table at The Hub, an intimate dining series that celebrates the intersection of food, culture, and storytelling.
Hosted at The Hub Miami in Pinecrest, the evening will offer guests a rare opportunity to experience Samuelsson’s cooking while gaining insight into his latest cookbook, Back to Green, a celebration of plant-forward traditions and the cultural connections that shape the way we eat.
An eight-time James Beard Award winner, Emmy Award-winning producer, and bestselling author, Samuelsson has built an internationally recognized career exploring the relationship between food, identity, and community. With his acclaimed New York restaurant Red Rooster Harlem currently undergoing renovations, this special appearance offers South Florida diners a unique opportunity to connect with one of the culinary world’s most influential voices.
A Culinary Journey Through Culture and Tradition
At the heart of the evening is Samuelsson’s newest cookbook, Back to Green, which explores plant-forward culinary traditions across the Caribbean, the Americas, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific.
Through ingredients such as teff, plantains, coconut, corn, rice, and açaí, Samuelsson highlights how food reflects generations of migration, ancestry, and resilience, while demonstrating how traditional ingredients can inspire contemporary cooking.
The evening will begin with a conversation between Samuelsson and Lee Schrager, founder of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, offering guests an opportunity to hear firsthand about the stories, inspirations, and culinary philosophies behind the book.
An Intimate Dinner Inspired by Back to Green
Following the conversation, guests will gather for a multi-course, family-style dinner inspired by recipes from Samuelsson’s latest release.
The menu will showcase his signature approach to global flavors and culinary traditions, featuring dishes such as Berbere Salmon with cucumber and injera crumble, Glazed Black Bass accompanied by black farro, mushrooms, and curry broth, and Shiro Pasta with charred tomato and greens.
Additional highlights include Jerk Beef Ribs, bringing bold Caribbean-inspired flavors to the table, followed by Bunna Banana, a dessert featuring coffee-soaked ladyfingers, brûléed banana, and mascarpone.
The family-style format reinforces the evening’s central theme: food as a shared experience that brings people together across cultures and generations.
Bringing Culinary Conversations to South Miami
The event is part of Chef’s Table at The Hub, a culinary series that welcomes celebrated chefs, cookbook authors, and influential food personalities for intimate evenings combining conversation, storytelling, and thoughtfully curated dining experiences.
Located on the Temple Beth Am campus in Pinecrest, The Hub Miami is a secular cultural arts and community center often described as South Miami’s “cultural living room.”
Through programming that spans culinary arts, comedy, wellness, live performances, and engaging conversations, The Hub continues to create opportunities for meaningful connections between nationally recognized talent and the local community.
With Marcus Samuelsson at the table, the upcoming edition promises more than an exceptional meal. It offers a celebration of the stories, traditions, and cultural influences that make food such a powerful universal language.
