Wynwood favorite Niño Gordo is having a moment this spring, blending culinary collaborations with playful cultural experiences inside its retro-futuristic dining room.
First up, a two-part chef collaboration with Zitz Sum, the tasting-menu concept known for its Japanese techniques layered with Latin American influence.
The series begins March 22 when Chef Germán Sitz joins Zitz Sum for its cult-favorite Friends con Benefits dinner series. The chefs will present a 9-course collaborative tasting menu ($115) featuring dishes created exclusively for the night, each concept interpreting the other through its own culinary lens.
The collaboration continues April 15 when Zitz Sum pops up at Niño Gordo for its Cooking with Friends series — this time shifting to a special à la carte format that merges both kitchens inside Niño Gordo’s electric Wynwood space. Reservations via Open Table.
And if that wasn’t enough, the restaurant is also launching Mahjong Nights on Wednesday, March 11 in partnership with Mahj + Miami — a modern mahjong collective bringing curated social play experiences to the city.
The two-hour evening ($110) pairs mahjong, cocktails, and bites from Niño Gordo favorites like:
• Cauliflower Karaage
• Wing Karaage
• Pork Belly Bao with Miso Glaze
• Eel Kushi with Fried Tapioca
Players can join individually or reserve a table with friends while Mahj + Miami hosts guide the games and verify winning hands.
Between chef-driven collaborations and community-driven game nights, Niño Gordo continues to push beyond the traditional restaurant experience — blending food, culture, and social energy in true Wynwood style.
